Everybody has a best friend in their lives. Some stay for a while, others stay forever. I have one of the few that I know I will keep to myself until the end! She gave me a book one morning (signed on the inside cover) just before she departed back to Utah and we would be separated once again.
I will share a few of my favorite quotes from the book before I get to the point of this post".
"It never hurts to a have a fellow eye-roller when mom starts talking about 'unladylike behavior'."
(My favorite): The Definition of Cooperation:
Cramming a mountain of hair care products, a ton of makeup, a hairdryer, a set of hot rollers, a radio, and a couple of sisters into a small bathroom with a single outlet and one mirror. (Which is definitely true at her house)!
"Going through life with the "family thighs" is a lot easier when there's somebody else out there with two more just like it". (Or in our case, the hips)!
She got in my face, I got in her stuff. I tried to make a trap outside her door hoping she would step on the nails I planted for her. We kicked, we yelled. Then we began to laugh and giggle. Break rules and watch movies. And now she has gotten her long awaited privacy, only to find she doesn't ever want to hang up the phone with me. I call her for my deepest thoughts, and vice versa. We can gossip and then giggle about it. Endless stories and endless re-tellings of stories we had with each other years ago.
And speaking of never getting off the phone (which is the point of this post), the other night we were talking for a couple hours about some pretty random things; a movie I had just seen (Knowing, with Nicholas Cage), the world coming to an end, ghosts, a scary house we once went to, and what comes next after death. I had mentioned the only thing I ever worry about it thinking that God is only looking at the bad things we do; Church attendance, hurtful words, etc. One for myself is having a baby at a young age.
She said to me "What is marriage exactly?" We didn't come to this Earth with a contract. God didn't tell Adam and Eve or anyone else to meet the judge under the big willow tree and sign some papers and be married. She says, in her opinion, that in God's eyes, he probably considers the Guy and me to be married. We have been together for a very long time and honestly believe there is L-O-V-E between us, the one single thing a marriage is based of off. We continue to raise our baby together and love him even more than each other.
Yes, the true blessing of having a sister (and a best friend rolled into one) who can make you understand that some things that are looked at to be so horrible, are really not as bad when looked into a little deeper and at the bigger picture.
I love my Bear Bear more than anything else in this world. My sister is the main person who guides me through each day with a little laugh to start it off, a little smile to keep it going (with the text messages during school), and a little gossip to end the day just right with that cherry on top! (:
